The increasing demand for comfort, convenience and safety in vehicles translates to an increase in electrical gadgets that are all run by the vehicle electrical system. In order to power all of these components, electrical systems have become more and more complex and powerful. The system requires a delicate balance of power to regulate energy consumption, even when the vehicle is not running. The A6 exam is designed to evaluate and improve your knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.

The exam consists of eight sections that focus on the diagnosis and repair of the electrical system, broken down by subsystems. The first section briefly evaluates your knowledge of the diagnosis of the electrical system as a whole. The subsequent sections test your understanding of diagnosis and repair of the battery, starting system, charging system, lighting system, gauges, warning devices and driver information systems, horn and wiper/washer systems and electronic accessories.
