A2: Automatic Transmissions
If you work for a shop that services automatic transmissions or are considering specializing in transmission repair, you need to know transmissions like the back of your hand. The A2 certification exam will evaluate your knowledge of automatic transmission/transaxle diagnosis and repair so you will have the confidence to take on any transmission problem.
The exam begins with general transmission/transaxle diagnosis then covers maintenance and repair that can be done while the transmission is in the vehicle and internal transmission or torque converter failures that can only be repaired by removing the transmission from the vehicle.
